My name is Otabius Williams, and I’m from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I began my journey in the media world at a young age. It started with an animation summer camp and ended up taking different short courses and summer camps. When I hit thirteen I mostly stopped doing those things, spending more time with friends rather than developing my creativity. Like many of my peers, I struggled with traversing the difficult path of being a teenager in today’s world and all that that entails. It’s truly not easy for today’s youth. By sixteen I was fortunate enough to have a series of events occur in my life that led me to have an epiphany. I took a deep pause for thought about my life and the current state of society. I came to realize the value of storytelling in reaching people’s hearts and teaching lessons that can change negative ways of thinking and living. With mind, body and spirit renewed, I decided I’d return to developing my skills so that I could use them to reach out and encourage the humanity in humanity.

I have written my own and have featured in a few songs. As I got older I slipped away from writing and now I’m a music promoter. I promote artists music tracks and events going on in the city. I know there is a lot of great talent in Nova Scotia and I believe being part of 106.9 Got –A- Voice FM will help with artists getting exposure in Halifax.

My names Marissa Rodrigues. I’m 16 years old and from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Although I now mainly live in Ontario, every summer I return to my old neighborhood in the North End of Halifax. One day while hanging out at the Centreline Studio I heard about the opportunity to help with the Gottingen Street Festival website. Being so fascinated by history I knew I had to jump at the chance, what better way to learn about my community than this. Helping with the website has given me more knowledge about the street and area so long ago, as well as being an interesting and a bit challenging job that I’ve never done before. When I’m not helping out with the website I spend my time, rollerblading, reading or working.
